All our John Humphris Collection leather products are made from British cattle hides, that are tanned in a British tannery and the products are made by British saddlers in Walsall, England. This allows us to have full traceability and ensure a quality finished product. It also means we keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.
All our John Humphris Collection products are stitched with Nylon thread so stitching will not rot.
Our products will last a life time if they are properly maintained.
Our finest quality bridle leather creates a beautiful product which will last a life time if it is properly maintained. However, it must be looked after! Bridle leather is fairly stiff when it is new. With use, correct cleaning and treating it becomes lovely and soft and supple. There is nothing better than a bridle leather lead once it has gained these qualities.
Please Note: This product requires REGULAR MAINTENANCE. If bridle leather products are not kept clean and treated regularly they will dry out and start to crack.
Required Maintenance
Regular treatment with Neatsfoot oil or leather conditioner is a must for this product if you want to get the best out of it and maximise its longevity.
If your bridle leather product gets wet and muddy:
This is a unique leather developed by a leather expert with John Humphris to create a minimal maintenance soft but strong leather ideal for usage in dog training equipment. This product has been in use for many years throughout the world with police and military forces.
This leather is treated with a special mix of oils, greases and waxes to create an extremely strong, soft, supple product from new that requires very minimal maintenance, the occasional treatment with a little vegetable oil or leather conditioner will however increase the longevity of the product.
Note this product is a MINIMAL MAINTENANCE product not a zero maintenance product!!
Required Maintenance
If your John Humphris soft leather product gets wet and muddy follow the maintenance steps described for bridle leather. NEVER force dry this product, allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat source.

This leather goes through a different tanning process to produce a very strong soft leather ideal for very thin (10mm) leads, often seen on dogs in the show ring.
The nature of the product makes it very easy to plait into attractive designs. This leather has extremely high tensile strength, your dog will not break it by pulling on it (it may however stretch a little). This product is however easy to cut and so it is easy for a dog to chew through if it is allowed to do so.
Note this product is a MINIMAL MAINTENANCE product not a zero maintenance product!!
Required Maintenance
If your show leather product gets wet and muddy follow the maintenance steps described for bridle leather.
Caution
Please also do not leave your dog tied up using this leather product – if he is a chewer.
If you are looking for a NO MAINTENANCE product, then this is the stuff for you! It looks like leather from a distance and feels supple from new.
